I Explored Liza Minnelli’s DREAM California House and Here’s What I Found

A famous American actress and singer, Liza May Minnelli, lived in a stunning Hollywood Hills mansion together with her second husband, director, producer, and writer, Jack Haley Jr. Today, we’ll have a fascinating tour around its main peculiarities, admire numerous attractions, and feel the good vibes this “place of power” is known for. At the end of this video, you will understand why powerhouse vocalist Christina Aguilera instantly acquired this home when it appeared on the market.

Liza Minnelli is best known for her role in the classic musical film “Cabaret” (1972). The daughter of actress and singer Judy Garland and director Vincente Minnelli, Liza became famous for her powerful alto singing voice and commanding stage presence. She received numerous accolades, including EGOT, an acronym for the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Awards. The movie legend is also a Knight of the French Legion of Honour. Her notable albums are Results, Gently, Liza’s Back, and Confessions.

Jack Haley Jr., Liza’s future husband, commissioned the late, famed architect Harry Gesner to design the mid-century modern house in 1960. The couple lived in this stunning mansion from 1974 until their divorce in 1979. Haley continued to live there until he died in 2001. Even now, the home’s front door knob features his initials. We’ll tell you a real-life anecdote about the couple’s marriage a little later.

Minelli’s former Hollywood Hills mansion is over six thousand five hundred square feet. The gorgeous home sits right above the famed Sunset Strip, a 1.7-mile stretch of Sunset Boulevard passing through the city of West Hollywood, California.

Harry Gesner, the late Californian modernist architect, designed this four-bedroom home. He primarily designed residences in the Los Angeles area. His main trick was to create a home design that harmoniously blended with Californian dramatic landscapes, clinging to cliffs and erupting from canyons. Gesner’s iconic work is the Wave House in the sand on Malibu Beach. An avid surfer, dashing Mr. Gesner sketched his first designs for the Wave House while swaying on his longboard in front of the site.

When Harry Gesner designed Minnelli’s mid-century house in Hollywood Hills, he also drew inspiration from the surrounding landscapes. The views of the city and onward to the ocean are really striking. Those lucky to visit the place admit there is a lot of positive energy. Gesner’s design was deliberately crafted, and the outcome appeared more than spectacular. The layout literally unfolds before the visitor’s eyes. No wonder this house has been dubbed an architectural gem.

The exterior boasts a sunbathing deck, cobalt-heated saltwater pool, built-in outdoor barbecue, wraparound patio, and lagoon-like pebble-finished spa with an adjacent fireplace.
