Desilu Ranch
Lucille Ball’s first marital home was not a luxurious apartment or mansion but a cozy family retreat, where she could easily accommodate her beloved pet companions and entertain her Hollywood friends! But before she went on to have this sprawling nature estate, she met her first love, co-star, and production company partner.
Lucille Ball met Cuban bandleader Desi Arnaz when they both appeared in the film version of the Broadway hit, Too Many Girls. Apparently, the two quickly fell in love and their relationship was fast-forward.
In 1940, the couple got married and even formed the production company Desilu Productions. The company went on to produce some of the most beloved television shows of the 1950s and 1960s, including “I Love Lucy,” “The Lucy Show,” “The Untouchables”, and the original Star Trek series. Desilu Productions was groundbreaking in its use of three-camera filming and live audiences, and it set the standard for television production for decades to come.
