He and his wife, Ricky Lauren, whom Ralph married in 1964, love to travel worldwide. During such trips, they acquired a magical section of the coast known as Round Hill in Jamaica, an island country in the Caribbean Sea and the West Indies. Their first visit to Jamaica on Christmas 1978 impressed Ralph and Ricky Lauren so much that they decided to settle there and kept their word.

When living in a seventeen-thousand-square-foot manor built in 1919 in Bedford, New York, Ralph was dreaming about a place to step out of time in the middle of winter. His son, David Lauren, shared that the warmth of the sun really matched the warmth of the people, which inspired the family to stay there and boosted his dad’s creativity.
