For six decades, an American cultural icon, Harrison Ford, has built a successful on-screen career in the film and television industries. We love him for many epic roles, from a galactic smuggler, Han Solo, in “Star Wars” (1977), “Blade Runner” Rick Deckard (1982), and the adventurous archaeology professor Indiana Jones. Various accolades proudly rest in the actor’s Los Angeles abode, and numerous secrets are kept in his cupboard. Did you know Ford is also a licensed pilot of fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters and an avid environmental activist? His personality is somewhat eclectic, but what about his house? Let’s see whether the actor’s private Los Angeles mansion matches his outstanding spirit!
The legendary actor bought this stunning compound in the heart of Brentwood for a hefty one million dollars in 1983. An American architect, Gerard Colcord, built the home in 1951. The architect also remodeled this exquisite house. Colcord designed historical revival houses with American and British roots between 1920 and the 1980s. His homes in Brentwood, Westwood, and Bel-Air have a simple, rustic, and wholesome feel. Many A-listers have owned estates per Colcord’s design, among them a screenwriter, Jerry Wald, an actress, Connie Wald, and a singer, Dean Martin.
Colcord was known as “Hollywood’s society architect,” who preferred designing traditional homes, and Mr. Ford’s abode was no exception. It is a lovely country colonial home on the corner of Brentwood. Though it takes minutes to get from the house to the city, the place offers unparalleled privacy and the feeling of being in nature. Ford’s estate is set off the street, up a long driveway. It boasts sprawling grounds, lush gardens, and breathtaking city and ocean views. The abode is pristine and meticulously maintained, and its exterior features lush landscaping.
A long gated driveway welcomes visitors approaching the main house. The large motor court is one more distinctive marker of this exceptional estate. The magnificent views are complemented by rolling grassy lawns, a charming courtyard, and gorgeous mature trees. There’s also a pool house with a catering kitchen and a separate two-story guest house. The charming poolside guest house comprises two extra guest suites and a detailed workshop.
Harrison Ford loves to spend time sunbathing, tanning on the terrace with a drink, and chilling in the pool. Outdoor activities help him stay in shape, which is highly important for an in-demand actor. Swimming and playing with his dogs (the actor doesn’t like cats) have always been among them. Ford even got used to reading scripts and learning the intricacies of his new role right in the pool! If the pool isn’t enough, there’s also an indoor gym with all the equipment to make the Hollywood star look gorgeous for his next movie role. Ford said: “I’m healthy; I enjoy being active and fit..”
The gated parking provides enough space for 5 cars. The garage can host two cars, which is enough for Mr. Ford, who doesn’t own a luxurious car collection like the English comedian Rowan Atkinson.
